Latest Trail Conditions
New Snow Last 24 hrs: 2-3″
Conditions: Fair – Good
Base: 1-3″
Hello! Cadillac Winter Promotions went out the beginning of this week to smooth out some areas, but will not be grooming regularly until we get a little more base established. Temps and forecast do look favorable for Winter weather! Reports are generally favorable from Coyote north to Thompsonville. I rode to Mesick Tuesday night and conditions were generally good!
We’re glad we’ve got some fresh snow for this upcoming holiday weekend. However, I’m more frustrated about hunters being on the snowmobile trails while grooming, but I understand this is not illegal. This just makes it harder to find volunteer groomers when they get rutted so fast, and it’s a safety hazard for snowmobilers as well. Hoping this will reduce, as regular grooming gets started.
– THINK SNOW & RIDE RIGHT! … Pete
Hi There!
We’re Pete and Julie Finch, owners of Coyote Crossing Resort.
Our family loves to hit the trails and explore all that northern Michigan has to offer!
We started Pete’s Trail Report to inform other outdoor enthusiasts of the snowmobile trail conditions in the Cadillac area, but we’ll also be sharing our insider perspective of living life at the 44th parallel in hopes to inspire others to take time to stop and smell the pine trees. We hope you enjoy!

Groomers are out!
New Snow Last 24 hrs: 4-5″
We have gotten another 3” of powder overnight, on top of the 3-5” yesterday. The groomers are going out now, so we’d ask that you move over and slow down for them. Expect improving conditions! It’s snowing lightly now and calling for more on Thursday & Saturday!
Let’s Ride!
3-4” in last day with some rain/snow mix and then fresh snow on top … there likely will be some spot grooming done, but don’t want to disturb the base too much yet … When dirt gets mixed in with the snow, we lose the rigidity of the ice base. Several people were riding this past weekend, but decent conditions were very localized from Coyote up to Mesick. Check out Coyote webcam for current pictures. Cold temps and some snow are in the forecast… THINK SNOW!
Improving today!
Conditions - Fair, but limited Snow last 24 hrs - 1” Hello- Things are improving a little today, with some snow showers and more moisture in the snow. Significant snow event is possible for Sunday-Wednesday, with expected accumulation of 4-8”. Still no grooming, with...
