Latest Trail Conditions
Good morning! We wanted to update from yesterday’s report, as we’re being told trails range from Poor to Good now. Minimal grooming due to the small amount of base. There are random dirty areas throughout the system, with little to no base in those areas, due to heavy traffic on Friday. It’s snowing lightly now and snow is in the forecast.
Thin stretch between Boon and Mesick but lots of real good stretches on the trail.
Railroad grade to Thompsonville is fair. Gets better the further north you get. Expecting busy traffic since it’s “free riding” weekend and MLK. We’ll have a bonfire going in the Coyote Corral on Saturday with drinks for sale outside!

We’re Pete and Julie Finch, owners of Coyote Crossing Resort.
Our family loves to hit the trails and explore all that northern Michigan has to offer!
We started Pete’s Trail Report to inform other outdoor enthusiasts of the snowmobile trail conditions in the Cadillac area, but we’ll also be sharing our insider perspective of living life at the 44th parallel in hopes to inspire others to take time to stop and smell the pine trees. Season winding down
Trail Conditions: Poor Rode in our area Wednesday to check things out. Trails still had a decent base intact, but it was quite icy. All county roads and access roads are dirt/pavement, making it difficult to get to the trails. We don't expect Groomers to go out...
Trail Update!
Trail Conditions: Fair-Good; Base: 3-4"; New Snow Last 24 Hrs: 1" Most of the Cadillac system north of M-55 has now been groomed. Heavy moguls have now frozen and are quite a challenge after the warm up. Southern tractor should be back in working order late tomorrow...
Back in “the Snow” Business!
Trail conditions: Fair -Good; Base: 3-4”; New Snow Last 48 Hrs: 4-6” This fresh snow has definitely shaped things back up, and given sledders a chance to ride in the Cadillac area again! We got about 3" Friday night and then another 2-3" today. Pete has gone out in...
